A Merry Holiday

This annual holiday is unimaginable and unforgettable. It is magical and delightful. It’s Christmas. Oh, how I love the smell of fresh gingerbread men coming out of the oven, The sound of fire crackling in the fireplace, and the minty taste of  candy cane in my mouth. Every year Christmas is different, different ornaments, different presents, and different memories. However two things never change, the Christmas feast and decorating the Christmas tree.

The Christmas feast is one of the best meals of the year. In the appetizer course of the meal we eat some delicious and flavorful fried shrimp. In my favorite course, the main course, there is a juicy and tender prime rib. I can easily remember the taste of it, tantalizing my taste buds. Also included in the main course is a bowl of scrumptious mashed potatoes. Served with a mouthwatering homemade gravy. Last is the desert course consisting of a sweet and yummy apple pie.

I remember the first time I decorated Chirstmas tree. Sadly, it was a fake. but still we decorated it. We ussually put on the homemade ornaments such as painted ornaments and those ornaments we bring home from school. My favorite ornament is one of Santa standing up holding a present. After we put on the ornaments we put on the Cristmas lights that flash on and off as if they were dancing presenting thier brilliant colors. Finally we put on the Christmas tree topper, a magestic angle.

Now I hope you understand why I love Christmas so much, the feast, the decorations, and the gathering of a family on this special occasion. I wish every day was Chirstmas so I can enjoy this great holiday every day. And remember Santa is always watching you.

Home Sweet Home

A very sacred place in my life would definitely be Hong Kong, my birthplace. I was born in Hong Kong, but my family and I moved to the US when I was three months old because of my dad’s job. Occasionally my family and I would go there to visit my Grandma and Grandpa. We would also go site seeing, shopping and of course dining.

My Grandma’s apartment is really small, just like all the apartments in Hong Kong. Right when you walk into her house you see the living room and the dining room, and if you take a right turn there is her  kitchen then if you walk back out of that room and go into a small two feet hallway you will see their bedroom, the bathroom, and the guest bedroom. I estimate that you can only fit about thirty six people into her house. Although it is cramped and small it is very convenient. After you walk out of the apartment  you walk down the hall and there will be an elevator. When you get to the ground floor and leave the building  and turn left you will soon see a minimart and a supermall! You can get a lot from the mall like books (some are in English), toys, and many other cool things. Not only that but at the minimart you can buy exotic fruit such as lychee, durian, and starfruit. You also have a wide variety of fresh, live sea food like the parrot fish, the puffer fish, and the horseshoe crab.

So what can I say?   I got family members there and there is a minimart and supermall nearby. I love Hong Kong it is truly Home Sweet Home to me.

Fishy Picture

It was the biggest fish ever! Well, only in my life that is. I can remember it as if it were yesterday. It was another blazing hot day in Sedona, Arizona. As we were being baked alive in the car I noticed a sign that said “Rainbow Trout Farm”, I was overjoyed. I love fishing. I love the nibbling of the fish and the jerk of the rod as you set the hook in its mouth. However the best part is the battle between you and the fish. Although I love that feeling I wasn’t feeling it. The fish just weren’t biting.

My brother caught the first fish and I was jealous. So now I was determined to fish a bigger fish than his. I put my bait in front of a good sized fish( around one pound). After waiting a couple seconds it took my bait. I jerked the rod back as hard as I could and there it was flying out of the water, a beautiful rainbow trout. I proudly looked a the amazing colors on my rainbow trout glistening in the sun. That sadly lasted a very short time because while I was dehooking it it fell into the dirt and so it changed from beautiful to dirty and sandy.

Even though it fell on the nasty ground it still tasted wonderful ( don’t worry we washed it before we ate it). I think this turned out to be one of the best fishing experiences I have ever had. After all, where else can you find a place that guarantees you that you can get a fish, paid to have it gutted, and eat it? Just because this is one of my best fishing experiences I’m sure it won’t be the best experience I’ll have in my entire life.

The Watery Grave

There is a dark day in my life where I almost stared into the face of death. I glanced over the pool like as if it was a watery grave. I walked over. SPLASH! I jumped into the pool with my small, red inner tube. I was four and at my friend’s birthday party. My friend’s brother was older than me. I watched continuously, with amzement, as he dove to six feet deep or maybe even deeper like a submarine.

The excitement was building up in me and I wanted a closer look. As I swam closer I slipped under my inner tube. I went frantic, splashing water, and gasping for air. This was a battle and I knew it had to be a battle I had to win, if I wanted to live. I was now losing that battle and I thought it was over. I breathed my last breath of air,and waited. Then at the last second I felt someone take hold of my hand. It was my Dad. I had a sigh of relief knowing that I wasn’t doomed that day.

Althoughterrifying and wild this might have been ine of the happiest days of my life, knowing that I have been saved and will live to tell this tale.
